Even There Your Hand Will Lead Me

Psalm 139:10, “Even there Your hand will lead me, and Your right hand will lay hold of me.”

David asked the question, “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence?” This may not be your intended desire with the Lord; yet you have found yourself on the run. You flee from problems, responsibilities, and even reality. You flee because life hurts. David presents an exhaustive list of places a man could go. You could ascend to heaven. You could make a bed in Sheol. Or, you could even dwell in the remotest parts of the sea. No matter the location even there God’s hand will lead you. The right hand of the Lord will lay hold of you. David delivers the wonderful reality of God’s omnipresence in our lives. Our God is ever present. In our highest moments God is there. In our darkest moments God is there. In our most depressing moments God is there. In our deepest struggles God is there. In our most confusing moments God is there. Jonah and Elijah knew what it was to be taken hold of by the Lord. Jonah ran from God. He found himself in the depths of the sea crying out to God and even in his disobedience and stubbornness God was there to lay hold of the repentant prophet. Elijah was a faithful servant of God who received a death threat. He knew the power and faithfulness of God; yet he was overcome with despair. After a days journey into the wilderness he sat down under a juniper tree and requested from God that his life come to end. However, even in the wilderness in a state of deep despair God took hold of Elijah. Perhaps, you have reached the depths of despair and it seems that there is no hope in sight? Or, you have wandered off in rebellion and you think there is no hope. I encourage you to look for the hand of the Lord who reaches into your darkness and takes hold of you. David explained in Psalm 139:10, “Even there Your hand will lead me, and Your right hand will lay hold of me.”
