Do You Know Jesus?

“The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.” Mark 1:1

When traveling I have a curious desire to research small towns that I pass through. I want to see if any famous people are from those towns. I know this may be a bit of an unusual practice, but it is something I enjoy. On a recent trip to northern Wisconsin I had an abundance of small towns to research along the way. I discovered a race car driver in one of the towns, professional athletes, and politicians among other people. I do not remember their names and frankly it does not matter if I do. My life is not affected by my knowledge of the notable people in those small towns. However, there is one person I must know about. There is one person everyone in the world needs to know about. That person is the Lord Jesus Christ. The gospel of Mark explains in the very first verse that he is setting before us the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. There have been authors over the years that have published biographies on many different people. Perhaps, reading those biographies inspire us, but they cannot change our eternity like Jesus can. When our life comes to an end it will not matter if we knew about some famous military leader, politician or professional athlete. However, it will matter if we knew about Jesus and received Him as our Savior. We can praise God that Mark has set forth for us the account of Jesus Christ who is the Son of God and that by this divine revelation of Jesus we can come to know Him as our Savior.
