Clarity When Things Are Confusing

Mark 8:25, “Then Jesus laid his hands on his eyes again; and he opened his eyes, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.”

Recently a 34 year old man named Lukas McClish went on a hike in the mountains of Northern California. What was intended to be a three hour hike turned into a 10 day journey. Somehow, Lukas got lost while hiking and couldn’t make his way back. Lukas apparently got confused on his journey. Sometimes our journey as a Christian is much like this. We have good intentions and God’s direction is clear in our hearts. However, circumstances arise in life bringing doubt and confusion. In Mark 8 we read were the disciples boarded a boat with Jesus and became very anxious because they did not bring any bread. Jesus was aware of their concerns and discerned their issue to be spiritual in nature. He addressed their hard hearts and inability to understand. Somehow, they could not see that the bread giver was with them. They had just witnessed Jesus feeding four thousand people, but somehow failed to see that Jesus could provide their need for bread. Following this encounter with the disciples some people brought a blind man to Jesus. Jesus healed him in two stages. The man’s healing would serve as an illustration of the clarity that Jesus would bring to the disciples confusion and lack of faith that was evidenced in their bread incident. After the blind man was brought to Jesus he was taken by the hand. Jesus led the man outside the city and touched his life personally. The reader must note the faith the blind man must have had to take Jesus by the hand and be led alone to another location. I encourage you to put complete trust in Jesus who is able to bring clarity when it seems hard to see and understand what is going on in your life. If doubt and confusion have overcome you let me encourage you to turn to Jesus. He alone can do for you what no one else can. Just as He brought clarity to the disciples He can bring clarity to you.
