Marriage of the Lamb

Revelation 19:7, “Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.”

The book of Revelation unfolds with verse upon verse of hope. In Revelation 19 we discover a specific event God has in store for His children. This is a prophetic event that John saw in his vision while on the Isle of Patmos. I remind you that future prophecy can be embraced with certainty because of God’s past prophetic fulfillment. The certain reality of future prophetic fulfillment is guaranteed by the fulfillment of past prophesy.

The prophetic event mentioned in Revelation 19:7 is called the marriage of the Lamb. I encourage you to read this verse and allow your mind to drift into the future and consider the significance of this precious prophetic event that God has planned for His children. William Newell described the glory, greatness, and renown of this event by saying, “the marriage of the Lamb is the most blessed and happy of all events that have occurred so far in creation.”

This joyous event will take place in Heaven. The bride of Christ, His church, will be united with the bridegroom, the Lord Jesus. There will be great joy and purity. The bride of Christ, that is you and I, who have received Christ, will be prepared and presented to the bridegroom in great purity and holiness. The God of the universe has spared no expense to prepare His bride. The Bible describes in Ephesians the work of the Lord Jesus to prepare His bride for this magnificent event we look forward to in Revelation 19. Paul said in Ephesians 5:26-27, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless. Here in Paul’s writing to the church at Ephesus we have the work of Christ on our behalf to prepare us without spot or wrinkle, holy and blameless. What a tremendous moment when we meet Christ at the marriage of the Lamb. We will be absolutely beautiful. We will be clean and free of every sinful struggle that we have ever wrestled with.

Look forward dear child of God. There is an event on God’s calendar that has been perfectly planned. It is the marriage of the Lamb and there is not another whom Christ desires to be united with. You are the apple of His eye and the affection of His heart.

Have a great week enjoying the certain hope we have in God, awaiting the moment when we are united with Christ.
