Preach The Gospel

There is no task more noble than making Christ Jesus known to the world. We must be laser focused on making sure our lives are offered to God so our time, energy and resources might be used to preach Jesus Christ as Lord. Paul stated in 2 Corinthians 4:5, “For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bond-servants for Jesus’ sake.”

The child of God must be committed to Christ proclamation and not self promotion. Paul explained in 2 Corinthians 4:5 that he was not interested in preaching or promoting himself. Rather, he was called and compelled to preach Christ Jesus as Lord. John the Baptist seemed to have a great handle on this concept claiming in John 3:30, “that he must decrease and Christ must increase.”

The gospel has been carried throughout the centuries on the backs of those who did not consider their lives as anything dear to themselves. Rather they considered their lives something to be offered up to God. Paul said in Acts 20:24, “But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.” The mission and method is to preach Christ. A “living witness” is good but will not suffice merely by itself in propagating the gospel. Christ must be preached. In the early days of Jesus’ ministry the crowds searched for Jesus and tried to keep Him to themselves. They did not want him to leave. Yet, to these people, Jesus said in Luke 4:43, “I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities.” The servant of God must not be detained from the primary mission and method of preaching Christ.

The message we are to preach is unique and life changing. There is no denying what the scriptures teach us about Jesus. His true identity is certainly revealed. Paul preached Christ Jesus as Lord. Yet, throughout history there have been many false things said about Jesus. Today there are some who say that Jesus is just a good man while others say He is just another prophet. Those who do not know Christ, perhaps, might even reason in their minds

that He was just a figure in a fairytale. However, scripture clearly teaches us that the message we are to preach is Jesus is Lord. He is the way, the truth, and the life.

God Bless you and have a great week.
