God's Grace Is Greater
God’s grace is greater than our sins. Experientially we may not feel this to be the case. Our sin may seem to be a huge, overwhelming obstacle in our lives. It may feel like there’s this huge boulder right in the middle of our hearts. Every time we try to get down the road of life, it may seem as if we are tethered to the painful sins of our past that simply remain. Perhaps, it is as if we are tethered to our past sin by a bungie cord. We live life for a little while, only to hit the end of the cord and be sprung back into the presence of our past mistakes, albeit against our will. We walk on a bit and then a voice inside says that we cannot move forward because of our sin. It is impossible, we feel ruined, broken and useless. Perhaps, this is how you are feeling. Let me tell you a different story. God’s grace is greater than our sin. Like the Empire State Building is much greater in size than our houses. God’s grace is greater than our sin. The Mojave Desert in the United States occupies 54,000 square miles. The Sahara Desert in Northern Africa occupies 3.5 million square miles. To put that in perspective, the state of Florida is just shy of being 54,000 square miles in size. The entire United States is 3.8 million square miles. The Mojave Desert pales in comparison to the Sahara much like the state of Florida pales in comparison to the entire United States. Our sin pales in comparison to the overwhelming magnitude of God’s grace. The Bible says in Romans 5:20, “The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more.” So, the next time you are reminded of your past, remember confessed sin is forgotten sin. Remember, confessed sin has had the power of grace cut the tether that once bound you to yesterday’s failures. Based on the authority of scripture, you can move forward and live your life for the Glory of God.
