Christ the Conqueror

In the first century, a great military victory achieved by a Roman General was celebrated with a triumphal procession. What a grand moment for the General. If the senate found the victory worthy of such designation, the General became the man of the hour. The Roman Senate voted to give the General a triumph. The triumph consisted of a triumphal procession that paraded through the city. Today our parades are celebratory in nature. A homecoming parade matriculates through town with the football team on full display. There is much joy and celebration. God Who Comforts

Afflictions and trials in life can have a dramatic and dismal impact on our lives. They can leave us feeling hopeless, in despair, and depressed. Our comfort is troubled and our confidence can erode away. Yet, in the midst of our weariness from affliction and trial, God supplies heaven’s provisions to our soul. In looking at 2 Corinthians 1:1-11 here at Emmanuel Baptist Church on Sunday mornings we have discovered that God supplies comfort and confidence to His weary, worn, and afflicted children.
