The Wise Father

Fathers will impact their children. For some this impact will be positive and for others negative. But make no mistake, there will be a lasting impact. This world needs stable father figures who will engage in their children’s lives. Father engagement, however, needs to be specific and intentional. I could categorize fathers in a few different groups. There are those who are completely checked out and have no engagement with their children. This father offers no love, encouragement or security to their children. This father may bury himself in work, or even worse, an addiction of some kind. John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” Jesus looked out on the multitude and saw a crowd of people that were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd. They were people without protection, without provision, without direction, and without hope. If Jesus were to set a while and observe people these days He coul d draw the same conclusion as He did in the first century. Perhaps, you are distressed and dispirited.
